JDP Scholars

Each year the Jayda Dionne Scholarship Fund selects and honors an incoming freshman or current college student with a one-year scholarship. We are pleased to recognize our recipients who have demonstrated hard work, willingness to help others and determination against tremendous odds.

Miah Taylor

2026-2027 Recipient

Miah Taylor, a second-year journalism scholar at FAMU, dreams of being a political journalist. She hopes to make impactful changes by writing compelling stories. During her first year at FAMU, Ms. Taylor maintained a 4.0 GPA, along with serving as a teacher’s assistant, a judge at a history fair, a volunteer at FAMU’s Food Pantry, and an assistant at church services. She has shown perseverance from a very young age, and in the midst of extremely challenging circumstances, she became the first in her family to graduate high school with an associate’s degree.  Ms. Taylor's resilience as a high school student and as a college student is inspiring. She exemplifies the late Jayda Dionne Parker’s mantra of hard work, compassion, and determination.
